Paula Scher is one of the greatest postmodern graphic designers, her design has inspired millions and she continues her work in the Pentagram today, still pushing the limits of graphic design.  
        Paula Scher was born on October 6, 1948 in Washington D.C. She studied at the Tyler School of Art in Pennsylvania and has been designing for the Pentagram since 1991 eventually becoming the Pentagram’s first female principal. “Scher straddles the line between pop culture and fine art in her work. Iconic, smart, and accessible, her images have entered into the American vernacular.”[1] Paula Scher is a very well-known graphic designer, her name is common place in the graphic design field.  
        Her work is easily recognizable with her use of various, large print sans serif posters with vibrant colors.  One of her most iconic works is The Public Theatre’s logo which went on to win her the Beacon Award for integrated corporate design strategy. While becoming the designer she is today she was heavily influenced by Push Pin she describes them as “her ‘heroes’ of the time. She was inspired by them because they combined illustration with typography and used lettering from historical periods that Paula identified with” [2]  Scher is a great teacher who ‘helps people how to see.’ “She schools them on why typeface matters, how form conveys a certain message, and describes it in relation to the client's needs.” [3] 
        Scher’s designs are very pleasing to the eye, movement is easily seen in her works she lays her elements in way that makes sense and helps the readers eye flow through her message.  She maximizes space in her design with little negative space making her designs all the more engaging to her audience. “Paula Scher is undeniably an internationally recognized celebrity, who is awarded more than 300 awards”[4] Paula Scher continues her work today creating better and better designs.  She has become an icon to the graphic design community and will go down in history as one of the greatest postmodern graphic designers of all time.
